Pabst Blue Ribbon
The lines of the diamond motif in PBR lend themselves beautifully to a distinct brim and crown, and the hat is tweedy and rustic and simple. The subtle heather in the yarn gives depth to the pattern, and the shapes and textures in the design manage to feel classic and modern at the same time.
The hat can be worn straight, with just a little extra room at top (I was wearing one with my hair up underneath), or folded back as Maya prefers to wear her hats. You’ll also have plenty of extra yarn to knit a few extra rounds of ribbing for a deeper fold if desired.

Yarn: A tweed, a solid, or a subtle heather in a soft, round aran weight wool would work best so that the details of the stitch pattern are visible. I suggest a fiber with a little depth, but not much variegation, to show the pattern off. Choose a round wool fiber with memory and minimal drape for a longer lasting, better fitting hat.
