Nor'easter
I think a Grandpa Sweater is timeless and classic. It’s about the loose, comfortable fit and the cozy shawl collar. So here’s Nor’easter!! The overall silhouette is longer and a little slouchier this time, with a subtle A-line shape to allow for a bit more room down below. I added a split shawl collar, played with some cool new cables, and threw in a both a saddle shoulder and optional pockets.
I’m in love with the way the outer cables on back melt into the body, and I’ve found I really do like the more tailored look and fit of a good saddle shoulder. Plus, this longer looser body shape really works well my current skinny jeans/long shirt/short boot wardrobe.
In writing this pattern, I wanted to be sure it was easy to modify and fun to knit. The cables are charted and written out. A stockinette body allows for social knitting and easy alterations. Notes are in the pattern so you can play with shaping, width and/or length.
The split shawl collar breaks things up so you don’t have a sweater’s worth of ribbing to knit all at once. (But, for those of you who miss that ribbing, I added notes for substituting a shawl collar without the split if desired, as well as on adjusting the depth on this one.)
