Mojito
Mojito features squishy cables with just a touch of color, and a more-interesting-than-usual stripe divides the ribbing from the main body of the hat. I wanted a simple knit with just a little surprise, so if you look closely at the stripe you will see it weaves in and out of the cable “feet” where the pattern switches from rib to cable. Besides the stripe accent, the hat features two traditional twisted cables in complimentary weights, and a big cozy pompom.
The design itself is a classic cabled beanie, meant to showcase the bounce and color and the yarn used. With all the shades Madelinetosh Vintage comes in, maybe you can have a little fun pairing some leftovers from a previous project with a new skein?
I’ve included notes in the pattern on how to modify for depth or width, and the pattern includes both a chart and written instructions for the cables involved.
Note on yardage: 200 yds is for the main color. I used about 25 yards of my accent color to work the stripe and make my pompom.
Colors: MC: Translation, AC: Memory If choosing colors, look for two that will allow for enough contrast between the stripe and the background. You can pick shades that highlight the undertones in each other, ones like these that appear “gradient” but are far enough from one another in saturation and hue to work, or ones that are opposite on the color wheel. Have fun!
