Delmonico

$6.50

Originally designed for A Verb For Keeping Warm’s gorgeous hand dyed Entwined yarn, Delmonico is a delicate cowl that combines rows of detailed lace “leaves” with a simple garter stitch and rib motif. In this lovely yarn, Kristine of AVFKW has combined camelid alpaca and merino to create a fiber that’s just stunning, and I wanted a pattern that would highlight the airy, delicate quality of the fiber. With a lofty hand, a subtle crimp in the thread and a pale, beautiful color, it makes a perfect spring fabric.

The feminine lace pattern really showcases the lace yarn, but has some distinct geometry to it, you don’t lose the pattern when the cowl is worn and folds into itself. I also wanted to balance of delicate lace with some simple textured rib, which allows you to see the gorgeous crimp in the strand, which gives the yarn a subtly rustic quality that’s really special! I don’t use fingering yarn very often, but when I do I want to take full advantage of what it’s got to offer.
